Assignment 11. Due Friday, December 8, 2000.
This will be the last chapter we will cover this semester. The final exam will consist of about 1 hour of questions emphasizing the material in Chapters 10, 11 and 12. The remainder of the exam will emphasize material in the other chapters.
Chapter 12. Electrophilic Aromatic Substitution.
This chapter deals with the characteristic reaction of aromatic compounds, electrophilic aromatic substitution. This reaction contrasts with addition, the characteristic reaction of arenes. We'll learn how to us simple resonance structures to predict how substituents can control the position of substitution. Synthesis of aromatic compounds will be stressed.Reading: Entire Chapter.
